The ultra exclusive ‘The World’ man-made archipelago off the coast of Dubai may be “falling into the sea”, a property tribunal has heard.

The specialist says, "The islands are gradually falling back into the sea," said a member of Penguin Marine’s legal team.
Nakheel says, 70 per cent of 300 islands that make up The World have already been sold, although many of the planned developments on the individual islands have been put on hold due to the financial crisis.
At present only a single island, Greenland, is currently inhabited and that was designed as a showpiece for its owner, the ruler of Dubai.
Many of the developers who could afford to finance developments on The World opted not to, after Dubai's property prices fell by 50 per cent in the space of a year.
Lawyers for Nakheel said the project was not dead but that it was simply, "in a coma".
